Here’s a quick peek at this winter’s madness machine.

After our successful test of the flat deck F1 in heavy conditions, (scroll back for that insanity) the next step is to try the kayak catamaran on the peaked deck version.

I’m still not sure if this set up can handle the racking forces of quartering wave patterns but I’m hopeful because I greatly prefer the additional foot room and cargo space of the peaked deck version.

I also added another 6 inches between the boats to try to reduce the effects of the pressure wave that builds up. This probably won’t work and it just puts additional stress on the system. I like to stay somewhat close to be able to hand things back-and-forth.

Unfortunately, the wind is not reliable here this time of year so it’s probably gonna take a while to get some good testing done.

FYI this version has another catamaran board further forward, I just left it off for the video because it looks cooler this way. This whole system can be turned back into two solo kayaks in just a couple minutes.
