Peter’s F2 kayak

One of the most gratifying things about my job is watching the boats getting built all over the world.
.
Peter in Southern Australia (in his 70’s) built himself an F1 last year and his wife loved it so much that he built her one as well. This year he built a tandem so they could try paddling together in one kayak.
.
The overwhelming majority of tandem kayaks are designed as beginner boats and end up being so slow and ridiculously heavy that most serious paddlers won’t go anywhere near them. My goal with the F2 was to break that mold and create a tandem that is fast, fun, and lightweight, (42lbs). Essentially just a stretched F1 with a second cockpit the result is a surprisingly seaworthy double. I’ve built these in a heavy version with heavy skin and rudder and a light version without all that. I much prefer the lighter, simpler version.
.
Unlike my F1 which numbers near a thousand, very few of these have been built. Only seven that I know of. They have made several multi-week outer coast passages and are loved by the people who own them.
