Video: rolling and East Greenland kayak in East Greenland

I’m thrilled to share this video clip of my friend Max doing an under the hull sculling roll in East Greenland. Believe it or not he has only been rolling for a couple years and has had very little formal instruction due to the remoteness of his tiny village of Tiniteqilaaq.
.
Max is the school master there and I’ve been working with him for a couple years to help get kayak building information, supplies, and padding gear to revive the kayaking tradition with the local school children.
.
Last year children from his village attended the Greenland national kayaking championships representing East Greenland for the first time ever and even taking home some medals!
.
Due to the high cost of travel from east to west Greenland I’m planning a fundraiser soon to help with expenses for next year‘s trip. I’ll post that in a couple weeks when it’s up.
