Video: St. Lawrence River Skiff: First dry fit of parts

1st dry fit of the parts for the St. Lawrence River skiff. Everything here is just held together by clamps and screws so I can see the shape and plan for seating and also find and mark the bevel angles for the frames. A very annoying issue as always is figuring out how I’m going to get these angle of the stringers toward the end to match the angle of the ribs. Basically, you can twist or you can bevel, And in this case, I’m not sure twist is going to work so I might have to bevel. I’ll probably draw up one more station between the last frame and the stem to get a better sense of the shaping before I decide. Also, I just realized that I can probably bolt foot brace tracks to either side of the pedal drive box which would be very convenient for the rowing mode. In theory, this means one person could grow while the other person pedals although in reality that would just cause you to instantly hit hull speed. Always nice to have options though.
