Always filming….today we made a tutorial showing how to put a drain plug in a skin on frame kayak. Drain plugs are something I’ve done in the past but not very often because I was on such a tight schedule to get six boats done in six days with six students. It’s also just a bit challenging to cut a small block of hardwood at perfect compound angles without cutting your fingers off.
As a diehard minimalist I’m still very conscious about not adding unnecessary weight, labor, or complexity to the process but it is nice to have the breathing room to add a few extras if desired.
I made my mounting block extra long because I’m going to use it as a mounting surface for a GoPro pole, but generally I wouldn’t do that because it adds unnecessary weight and it gets harder and harder to get the angles perfect the longer the cut.
I complain frequently and vigorously about making video, but I also enjoy the creative challenge of trying to get the view or the lighting just right.
