Breaking out the old rock climbing and tree climbing gear today to deal with some perilous limbs on the the massive horse chestnut tree in the backyard. Some of this stuff is over 20 years old, and most of it has aged better than I have. The stories those ascenders alone could tell….
The Big-Shot is a favorite toy, basically a massive slingshot for shooting lines high into trees. In the fall it takes every ounce of maturity I possess not to use it to fire horse chestnuts blindly into the surrounding neighborhood.
The Milwaukee cordless sawzall is a beast and honestly I prefer it to my Echo arborist chainsaw. I pissed off a sleeping squirrel, half-crushed two of my young blueberry plants, and narrowly missed taking the gutter off the house, but otherwise it all went pretty well.
