Am I the only person who is surprised by how long it takes to make a good set of canoe seats? If I’m being honest, it probably takes me 16 hours to complete a pair of seats with seat backs, varnish, webbing stapled on, everything. It seems like it should be a one day job. (with the seat backs it is more like making four seats though)
Anyways, these are the seat frames for the St. Lawrence River skiff. I use canoe style seats because they are much lighter and much more comfortable than solid thwarts and I need the tall back rests for the pedal drives system.
