I want to take a moment here to introduce Ant Mace of Shipshape Boatworks, our exclusive UK builder.
An experienced wooden boat builder already, Ant first caught my attention by asking about my skin-on-frame guideboats. I get a lot of interest in these beautiful craft, but very little follow through. I sent Ant a few paragraphs of basic info off the top of my head and a month later he sent me a picture of the finished boat. That made me sit up and take notice.
Next he started tackling all the other Cape Falcon boats and seeing that he was serious we started a conversation about licensing that eventually led to Ant becoming our exclusive UK teacher and custom boat builder. Ants experience, passion, and attention to detail make him a natural fit for our obsessive standards.
I sell a lot of plans to home builders but for people without a lot or tools a workshop can be a great way to build your own boat and you’re done in a week!
Ant teaches classes building my boats at his shop in Bristol, and has a couple workshops coming up later this year. He also builds custom boats including my designs. We are proud to have him representing Cape Falcon Kayak. Check out his website and awesome Instagram.
