Part 2 coming tomorrow! Setting up an XJ for two people to live fully self-contained for seven days without going over the GWVR (gross vehicle weight rating) is a mighty task in minimalism, especially when you add boats on the roof and the ability to work remotely.
I’ve been designing minimalist solar electric set ups for over 15 years, including living completely off the grid on photovoltaic and micro-hydro with no propane or generator back up. It’s a lot easier to find information than it used to be but I still see people struggle to design a balanced system that gives the best value for the intended application, especially when it comes to small set ups. So I decided to take the afternoon and make this video about the solar system we have in the ’99 Cherokee. I put a lot of thought into this system, and it works perfectly for what we needs so hopefully somebody out there will find this information useful. I’ll make sure to put a detailed parts list in Part 2 when I post it tomorrow.
