Just taking a quick spin in a customer’s boat before we send it out the door. This is our F1 kayak design, which is 14 feet long and 23 inches wide and weighs 32 pounds at this particular size (it comes in eight sizes). Due to the length, weight and narrow waterline, it has a low wetted surface, which makes it very efficient at normal cruising speeds. It’s also optimized for surfing performance and paddling in extremely rough water and high winds. It’s also super easy to camp out of.
I don’t get out kayaking much these days because I still have a bizarre back problem where twisting my spine results in my autonomic nervous system going bonkers and raising my blood pressure up to stroke levels, but as long as I keep it below five minutes, I can at least always jump in a boat and check that everything’s working like it should. It’s always nice to be on the water.
Notice how the Greenland paddle tucked diagonally under hard deck lines stabilizes the kayak in both directions.
