Going back thousands of years, kayaking season has always corresponded with the retreat of the ice. I don’t get many pictures of my modern skin-on-frame kayaks juxtaposed with an icy landscape, so thanks to Mark for these wicked photos!

Mark writes: “Hi Brian - I may have worked a bit too fast on my build. The kayak is ready to paddle. Unfortunately, Lake Superior has other plans (see photos). I’m very excited to give it a try, but I’m afraid liquid water is still months away.

This project provided a perfect form of relief from Covid tedium. Doable for someone with my skill set, but challenging enough to keep me fully engaged.”
