Thank you.

I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who shared their thoughts and ideas yesterday relating to my current medical situation. I’ll definitely be following up on many of them and I imagine this will consume most of my focus for quite some time, I’ll probably be posting about that journey in parallel with the kayak work.
.
In addition to being scary, this whole new turn of events has been super frustrating. My lifestyle is already heavily modified to allow me to keep working with the chronic illness. My workshop is 10 feet from the couch which is 10 feet from the kitchen which is most of my universe most of the time, short walks in the morning, and then occasionally we venture out for the shortest possible on the water excursions to get critical bits of video and then just feeling like death for a week afterwards. It’s an impossible way to exist, but I’m proud of what we have accomplished in spite of it.
.
With the new scary blood pressure issue happening the lifestyle modifications have become kind of ridiculous. Right now Liz and her brother are lifting boats off the car so I can paddle for five minutes. (I really appreciate the help)
.
Being a former surfer and climber it’s just one of those things where I wake up every day and I’m like: “dude, how is this my actual life?” I get through it by believing that if I can just hang in there long enough, and try enough different therapies, eventually I’ll get lucky. 15 years is a long time to be sick though…
.
My general plan for 2022 was to finish some important projects and then take a couple years off to see if I can get some traction against the chronic illness. It looks like that timeline is accelerating though and it’s just killing me to have to cancel a huge swath of my design work, but I’m gonna try my damnedest to get the sailing kayak catamaran finished at least. Probably not the best use of my time from a business perspective, but the sailing kayak-cat has been my dream since I was 27 so it’s important to me. The design work is mostly done, I just need to find a way to test it and teach it.
