Chopping tenons for the new boat. One of the things I like the most about skin on frame woodworking is that it doesn’t need to be precise. This is great for beginners, because it’s a good way to get familiar with a bunch of different woodworking tasks and feel a sense of accomplishment without the stress of exact tolerances. For example, this hack job would be absolute garbage if I was building furniture, likely resulting in a joint that would quickly loosen and fail, but in this context, it’s actually a little bit stronger than a perfect fit, because it allows for flex under the extreme forces of weight and waves.
