On YouTube: Comparing oak species for steam bending

Check out the longer version of this video that we just put up on the Cape Falcon Kayak YouTube channel where I compare the steam bending properties of 2 different White Oak species.
.
We bend each of them at 3 different steaming time intervals, bending each to shapes that you would see in my kayaks or canoe designs, and finishing by tying the ribs into literal knots and pushing them to the failure point!
.
It’s a good overview of the steam bending process which clearly illustrates that steam bending is easy if you start with good wood and do some tests to determine the optimal steaming time for your particular stick!
