Using Acetal/Delrin for small boat wear strips?

Does anyone here have experience using Acetal/Delrin as small boat wear strips? I recently bought some and made some strips for my newest canoe and as far as I can tell from everything I’m reading and how it feels to work with I think this could be a really great option. It’s tougher than brass or HDPE (The things I’m currently using) I can put it on thin and it doesn’t have the somewhat nerve-wracking machining characteristics of UHMW or the huge thermal expansion problem.
.
If this is a good option I don’t want to wait three years to see how these wear strips wear down before I can recommend it to my students. So I thought I would see if anybody out there has a new real world experience or if there’s any big downsides that I’m not thinking of here.
.
Please only responses from people with actual experience using it. Thank you!!
