About a month and a half ago expert bamboo fly rod builder Gabe Batson signed up for our online canoe building course and started burning through canoe builds in rapid succession.
On this third build and the one before it Gabe has been pushing my shaping formula to create much fuller-bodied boats than I have had a chance to try. I’m super stoked to see that this works because I only have so much time to build boats and it’s impossible to know what the system will and won’t do well unless somebody tries it.
The breast hooks on this canoe would interfere with the pop-up sail system but they do make kind of a neat little shelf.
