Video: GoPro clips from the river kayak test on the Clackamas River

While I work on the newer version of the skin on frame river touring kayak, I thought I’d throw up another edit of GoPro clips from our test on the Clackamas River a few weeks ago. This is really the sort of water this boat is designed for. It has to be capable of handling the occasional class III but it’s really at home on swift water and class I and II which is 95% of what most river trips are.
.
The kayak feels nothing like a sea kayak and I wouldn’t be surprised if it paddles horribly in open water conditions, (although I might be wrong about that) but on moving water it’s somehow both swift and (relatively) directionally stable, but still loose enough when you need that. Overall it just had this sort of pleasant Zen sort of feel. Hopefully that impression holds up with a touring load, and I get lucky enough to make this next version better and not worse.
