Happy 2020 everyone! We took a bit of an instagram hiatus in 2019 to build the @actuallytiny house but are back in action here at Cape Falcon.
So many amazing things happened in the Cape Falcon world last year so we want to share some of the highlights while we gear up to get back in the shop and build some boats.
First up are photos out of the Paddlesports Design: Tranquil Transportation class from the Industrial Design department at James Madison University. Professor Kevin Phaup reached out with the idea to use our F1 kayak building course as a foundation to teach students about boat design and construction while upping their woodworking and fabrication skills. Students spent the first half of the semester building the kayaks, and the second half developing their own paddlesports related design projects.
Scroll down on the JMU SADAH page for videos they shot with student impressions from the process — we’ll share them on our facebook page as well. It has been amazing to follow along with the students as they built, but seeing these photos of their final critique really blew us away. It’s really gratifying to see how each of the 13 students ran with the project to make it their own.
A big thank you to Kevin Phaup for making this happen, and a big congratulations to the students on a job well done. More photos of the boats on the water in our next post!
