Before I talk about yesterdays sail and rudder tests, let’s have a little bit of fun at my expense.
The play by play:
Trying to stick a cool looking landing I wait too long to take down the sail.
Instead of releasing the halyard and pulling back on the boom I release the sheet and lose control of the sail causing the kayak to round up and immediately crash into bushes and submerged logs.
Grappling with the now partially dislodged sail, I can’t figure out where to put my paddle because the normal paddle tuck is blocked by sailing hardware.
While trying to fasten the sail down I realize that my clever tiedown actually completely sucks and needs to be rethought.
I lose my paddle over the side.
I find my paddle over the side.
I push off, free at last!
So yeah, I’m clearly an expert kayak sailor….
