Video: Self-rescue practice in the pedal drive solo canoe

I still don’t understand if it’s really possible to self rescue a solo canoe? Here I’m doing some self rescue practice with the smaller of the two pedal drive prototypes. It’s not really much different than doing the same thing without the Pedal Drive, although it is a little more dicey because it’s hard to get low in the boat when I’m resetting things.
.
This seems to work equally well with big float bags in the ends, as it does, with 4” solid pool noodles along the inside of the sides. But I still have no idea. How do you get accomplish something like this with a loaded canoe or in rough water? Any other sólo canoeists out there with any advice? Is self rescue just not a thing in a solo canoe?
