While I was working on our kayak sailing system this spring, after much trial and error I settled on this combination sheet-cleat and sail tie-down as part of the system.
I had to set the sail system aside to focus on summer projects, but the loop stayed in place and I have to admit that it an incredibly handy little modification! It seems like I’m constantly using it for a dozen different things. Phone, fishing pole, paddle, pump, whatever.
I’ve fishing barbless lately and really enjoying the whole catch and release thing, but this unfortunately this little brook trout was mortally wounded so it became dinner.
My camp trout cooking skills leave much to be desired (we will not speak of the boiled trout incident) but with an overheated pan and the last few drops from a bottle of avocado oil combined with a splash of juice from a very oversalted jar of kalamata olives, I accidentally created a snack that tasted like something you would pay way too much money for in a restaurant!
Occasionally I stumble into good ideas.
