What goes into creating a skin-on-frame canoe building video course and plan set? A reasonable quality video lighting and audio set up and an inordinate amount of time tinkering with aforementioned gear. A million takes of me saying the same thing over and over until it looks sort of professional. Editing those takes until I can barely look at myself anymore. Carefully recording where each video is at in the cycle of color correction, compression, and upload. Scratching out the rough plans into a barely legible handwritten pile. Giving that handwritten pile to the professional graphic designer that I am incredibly fortunate to call my girlfriend, who through the magic of technology transforms the entire thing into a beautiful plan set.
Seven months ago I embarked on adding canoes to the Cape Falcon lineup. 12 boats, $10k, and a couple thousand hours later, we are ready to release a beta version of the new canoe building systems. 12 hours of video instruction and a 30 page plan set will be available on the Cape Falcon Kayak website 11/26/18.
