A few edge turns in the LPB for the new video we are making about this design. I’m not actually paddling very well here because I’m focusing on flying the drone.
After going through a set of maneuvers in all four of our kayak designs I had a face palm moment when I realized that it’s been so long since I’ve paddled with any regularity that I forgot one of the most important things to carving really tight edge turns:
Any edge turn works best if you steadily hold the top of the gunwale right at the waters surface, but if you really want to supercharge your edge turn leaning forward and pushing on the lower foot peg (the side you are leaning towards) makes a big difference in turn radius.
Doing this feels a bit unstable at first so it’s always good to practice in the low brace position until you get a feel for it.
I’m pretty ticked off that I forgot about this because it would’ve been great to carve even tighter turns for the videos!
