Just a couple more canoes built with our system by Gabe from Tufts & Batson.
Gabe has been pushing the limits of our building system ever since he sunk his teeth into it last year. I’ve lost count of how many boats he’s built so far but it seems like with every new boat he works on he’s pushing the shaping and materials in ways that remind me of when I started doing this type of work.
These days I have to be pretty conservative and innovate in small steps so I don’t accidentally lead my students off a cliff, but it’s adventurous builders like Gabe that really help me push the system in new directions. I can’t say that I’m on board with all of his inventions but it seems like every few months he comes up with something really cool that I’m willing to add to the system.
I think that’s what I like the most about what we do here, it’s not just about me and my ideas, it’s a collaborative process that’s constantly evolving.
