Video: chainsaw milling some Oregon White Oak

Here we are chainsaw milling some Oregon White Oak to turn into kayak and canoe ribs and possibly coamings. To be clear chainsaw milling is my last choice for getting this sort of wood, but it is an option if you don’t have any others.
.
This whole operation made me a bit twitchy because we are using Tom’s setup here and I am a MASSIVE control freak when it comes to chainsaw milling. Tom runs an 066 with skip tooth chain and sharpens by hand. I run a modified 084 with ripping chain, super unleaded gas mixed 25 to 1, and only sharpen with a machine. Unfortunately, my saw wasn’t available for this operation.
.
This was also a bit frustrating because with my health issues I can’t run the saw or lift a board, and it’s kind of madding have to ask two people for help to do literally anything when I would much rather just do it myself.
.
Thank you to my friend Don for giving us this log! Much appreciated.
