Day 1: Skin-on-frame rower-sailer

This week I’m taking a wild stab at putting together a little rowing/sailing canoe using the fast easy system that I developed last year for building pack canoes. My hope is to eventually develop a nice little rower that is a lot easier to build than my beloved skin-on-frame Adirondack Guide boats. This boat will definitely be a little bit slower and a little bit heavier but it should be more versatile and more seaworthy. Sort of like a Saint Lawrence river skiff maybe. First step is just to burn through a prototype though, see what works and what doesn’t. Dimensions: 16 feet long, 42 inches wide, 16 inches deep in the middle, 24 inches at the ends, 1/2 inch rocker (I hope)
.
Day 1) 7 hrs, Gunwales cut, laminated, mortised, and bent to plan shape. Stringers cut.
