Time lapse: Flat deck rock garden F1 kayak build, Post 5: Adding stems and stringers

Flat deck rock garden F1 kayak build, post 5. Adding stems and stringers. Again, great music on this one!
.
Put the stems and stringers on in the normal way. Not much else to report today except for the fact that I made the decision to keep this kayak and rebuild it for the customer.
.
Like I said in previous posts the reason for this is that the bending Oak isn’t quite as tight grain as I want for any kayak that’s going to get a 12 ounce skin. 12 ounce shrinks with incredible force and you really need the best of the best wood to resist rib collapse.
.
On the plus side this will give me another chance to improve the aesthetic and functionality of the flat deck version and film those modifications so I can add them to the kayak building course. This also gives me a second boat to catamaran along side the first one so I can do side-by-side comparisons between the flat deck catamaran arrangement and the ridge deck catamaran arrangement. (see post from a few days ago).
