I generally discourage using Greenland paddles with pack canoes because they tend to get a bit heavy at the lengths which work well in a canoe and the drips down the blades tend to give your lap a veritable soaking.
Weirdly, however, I do get people who build them for this purpose and are completely happy. This photo was sent by a student who just built this paddle from our plans and is he using it with the pack canoe he made last year. His words: “Oh my god, I’m loving my Greenland paddle in my pack canoe!”
This makes me wonder how many other people are using Greenland paddles successfully with canoes?
