Surprise Lakes

Just some random canoe porn while I work on less exciting things. The location is Surprise Lakes in the Gifford Pinchot national forest. Rolling up in the jeep to this easy access, idyllic lakeside campground, we were like: “why is there no one else here?!”.
.
Answer: because they’ve all been eaten by the locust-like swarms of bloodthirsty mosquitos. Surprise!
.
I attribute the significant gains that I made on my C-stroke that weekend to my desperate need to move as fast as I could away from those little monsters. Any second I wasn’t inside the tent or paddling as fast as I could on the lake I was just shouting and slapping and flailing my arms like a crazy person.
.
Ah, nature….
