If you find a push stick that feels perfect in your hand, make a template for it so you can use the same stick again. This avoids a potentially dicey transition when your habitual mind starts trying to use a different stick exactly the same way as the old one.
It’s also a good idea to make a handful of these so you don’t get tempted to do what I did here and use an unsafe push stick a bit longer than you should.
I always make these out of plywood because one time I made one out of a piece of cherry and it broke in my hand during a kickback, which could’ve turned out much worse than it did!
