Day 7, Skin-on-frame rower-sailer. Build time: 4 hrs.
Put a skin on the boat today, pretty uneventful, fast and easy. I’ve decided not to build any permanent crossmembers into the canoe for now. I think I’m going to set it up with the same system that I use for the pack canoes so I can adjust the locations of the thwarts and mast partners etc. Seating is going to be movable and braced up off the bottom of the boat instead of using planks or cane seats suspended from the sides. The movable thwart system gives me a lot of freedom to dial things in before making any permanent decisions and just like in the smaller canoes it also lets me take everything out so I can store another canoe inside of it or just lay down completely in the bottom of the boat.
