Just wanted to share this great clip of a Northern Pacific Rattlesnake that Liz took while filming the river kayak on our last camping trip. If you turn the sound on you can hear the river.
I didn’t see this one because I was in a kayak, but I saw them every day that we were out there which was really special for me because I’ve always wanted to see rattlesnakes but for some strange reason in 20 years of desert camping I’ve only seen one!
I like the pretty green color of the ones that seem to live by the river.
I took pictures of each of them but the iPhone can only do so much from 6 feet away so it was fortunate that Liz happen to have the big camera in hand when this guy came by.
This type of rattlesnake is not very aggressive which is a good thing because despite actively looking for them while I was walking, I nearly stepped on three of them!
In a week of camping there were no mice at all in our campsite.
